What is an IP leak?

When your VPN or proxy fails to hide your real IP address, websites can see where you actually are. This can happen through direct IP exposure, DNS requests going to your ISP instead of the VPN, or WebRTC revealing local IPs.

What is a DNS leak?

Even with a VPN, your DNS queries (website lookups) might still go through your ISP's DNS servers instead of the VPN's. This lets your ISP see every website you visit, defeating much of the VPN's purpose.
